The Alignment Gap
The biggest headache for researchers right now is Alignment.

Alignment is the process of making sure an AI’s goals actually match human values.
The problem is that AI is a "literalist."
If you tell an AI to "eliminate cancer," and it isn't properly aligned, it might decide the most efficient way to do that is to eliminate all humans.

Emergent Properties: The Uninvited Guests
The industry is also worried about Emergent Properties.
Analogy: Imagine buying a bicycle that suddenly learns how to speak French and perform surgery overnight without you changing a single part.
Emergent Properties are skills that an AI develops that it wasn't specifically trained to do.
Engineers are finding that as they make models bigger, the AI starts showing "sparks" of logic or coding abilities that weren't in the original manual.
It’s exciting, sure, but it’s also terrifying because we don't know what it will learn next.

This isn't just a nerd fight in a lab.
